Queer Life Stories

Podcast: Queer Life Stories
Host: Garry Wakefield
Category: Society & Culture
Sub-Category: Culture & Identity, Documentary
First Episode: 2019

Queer Life Stories is about sharing the lived experiences of queer people. Our first focus will be on Tasmania, Australia before exploring the Australian mainland and hopefully some international stories. Tasmania has had a turbulent history of LGBTIQ+ rights being the last Australian state to decriminalise homosexuality in 1997, 25 years after the first Australian state in 1972. Tasmania went on to become a progressive gay rights state sharing early support of marriage equality. Queer Life Stories will be talking to people that identify across the LGBTIQ+ spectrum and allies to capture the histories that might otherwise be lost and forgotten.

Great Australian Pods acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country as the first knowledge-holders, storytellers and artists of the lands on which we live, learn and work.
We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders - past, present, and emerging - and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Sovereignty was never ceded.
